For starters, the lush, beautiful Malta landscape makes for great walking, hiking, and trekking. After Malta's hot summer, the light rains bring forth an astounding richness of color: vibrant yellows, greens, reds, and all shades in between pervade the Malta outdoors. A walk along and through the fields reveals the variety of wild flowers and vegetables. In the spring time, the outdoor colors are even more splendid. Feel the crunch of gravel under walking boots and smell the fresh, crisp country air. In the outdoors away from the urban areas and resorts, there is still much of old Malta in the fields and villages: it's possible to see old methods of farming still being used in many places, and the rustic feel and air is very palpable as one makes his way around the countryside.
